Spanish Interior Minister weighs in after Vinicius’s exciting statements

Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has intervened in the crisis created by Brazilian Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior after he made statements in which he explicitly called on Spain to withdraw from hosting the 2030 World Cup.

In an interview with the American network CNN, Finney asked that Spain be exempted from organizing the 2030 World Cup if the European country does not eliminate the phenomenon of racism in a few years – as he said.

Fernando Grande Marlaska, Spanish Interior Minister, responded to statements by Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior, in which he spoke about racism in Spain, and explained that respect for diversity is one of the fundamental principles of the European country.

The Interior Minister said in statements reported by the Spanish newspaper “Marca”: “The only thing I have to say is that respect for diversity is part of our DNA in Spain and that is why we fight effectively and directly against any discriminatory behavior.”

The Spanish official indicated that his country also has a plan to combat racism and hatred in the field of sport, where he said: “In the field of sport, we are concerned and we continue to work on the new instructions issued by the Minister of State for Security to clarify the role of the security coordinator within the framework of his attributions.”

Spain is preparing to host the final phase of the 2030 World Cup in a tripartite dossier, accompanied by Morocco and Portugal, and Vinicius’ statements come after he was exposed to a large number of racist insults in the Spanish League, especially during the confrontation against Valencia at the “Mestalla” Stadium in the previous 2022-2023 season.
