Cafe and shop workers in Nador and Driouch…arbitrary expulsion and lack of health coverage
Heba Press: Abdel Salam Belgarbi, Mohamed Zariouh
A large number of workers in cafes and shops in the Nador and Driouch regions suffer from a lack of social coverage, which exposes them to health and economic risks without any legal protection. These workers do not enjoy their most basic rights to social insurance and health insurance, even though this issue is considered one of the fundamental elements to ensure social stability.
In addition, the Employment Office receives numerous complaints from workers on a daily basis, particularly regarding the arbitrary dismissals they are subjected to by the owners of the shops where they work.
Those affected say they are being dismissed without any legal justification or compensation, which is increasing their economic suffering.
Despite the efforts made by some parties, reality indicates the need to intensify the monitoring and accountability of the competent authorities to ensure the implementation of social insurance laws and limit abuses. Citizens in these areas demand effective intervention by the authorities to combat this chaos and guarantee workers’ rights as required by applicable laws.
