Yesterday, Thursday in Madrid, the National Electricity Regulatory Authority and the Spanish National Commission for Markets and Competition signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of energy sector regulation.

A statement from the National Electricity Regulatory Authority said that this memorandum of understanding, signed by the head of the authority, Abdellatif Berdache, and the president of the Spanish National Commission for Markets and Competition, Cane Fernández Vicin, is part of the fraternal relations between Morocco and Spain, in accordance with the vision of King Mohammed VI, and opens the way to exploring new opportunities and new horizons for energy cooperation between the two countries.

In a speech at the signing ceremony, Bardash said that this MoU, the result of extensive discussions and a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation in the field of energy regulation, highlights the importance of crucial technical aspects such as tariffs, while adopting transparency and fairness practices, essential to ensure an open and fair energy market.

He stressed that this initiative “goes beyond celebrating our achievements, but rather emerges from a long-term strategic vision to expand existing energy trade and ties between the two countries, which reflects a deep commitment to strengthening regional integration and ensuring energy security.”

Bardash added: “This approach opens promising horizons for stronger and broader future cooperation, which confirms the common commitment of both countries to address global energy challenges.”
