Walid Regragui comments on the exciting photo of Hakim Ziyech and Diaz
National voter Walid Regragui, coach of the first Moroccan national football team, commented on the position of Hakim Ziyech, captain of the “Atlas Lions”, when he rejected the request of his colleague Brahim Diaz to take charge of taking a penalty during the confrontation with Gabon, which ended in a victory for Morocco by four goals to one, as part of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, at the Adrar stadium in Agadir.
At the press conference after the match, Regragui said: “I don’t see any problem in what happened. On the contrary, Hakim Ziyech respected the hierarchy that I had set for the team and he felt that he wanted to score a second goal.”
The coach added: “Things like this always happen in football. “It would only have been a problem if Ziyech had not been responsible for taking the kick.”
Regragui confirmed: “We have seen big stars in teams like Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid do similar things, but we do not comment on such things in this way. I hope we continue to achieve great victories even with these ‘problems’. We have a group of stars, and each of them has their place, but no one is bigger than the national team.
