HIBAPRESS-RABAT
For three days, from yesterday Friday September 6 to Sunday September 8, 2024, the activities of the seventh session of the Festival for the promotion of the Sheep Breed in Tamhadhit, organized by the Association Ait M’hamed Environment and Solidarity, were launched in the rural commune of Tamahdit, Province of Ifrane, in the presence of the Governor of the Province of Ifrane Mr. Abdelhamid, the Secretary General of the Territorial Directorate, the head of the Directorate of Internal Affairs and the Secretary General of the Popular Movement Party Mohamed Ouzine, accompanied by local civil and military authorities and civil society.
The festival began to the rhythm of popular folk activities and celebrations of the Ahidous of the Region.
This session was marked by the participation of a number of sheep breeders at the national level, including purebred owners from the commune of Tamahdit.
The festival distinguished itself by highlighting several faces and uses.
Through this festival, the organizers seek to develop the livestock sector and improve production levels, especially for the Tamahdit breed, characteristic of the Middle Atlas Region.
The “Tamahdit” or “Bargui” sheep breed is an ancient agricultural heritage and one of the best-known sheep breeds in Morocco.
The “Tamahdit” Race belongs to its original homeland, the “Ait Baguelmous” region of the Middle Atlas, but also to the Tamahdit Region of the Province of Ifrane, and extends to all parts of the Middle Atlas from the Taza Mountains, passing through the Boulmane chain to Khénifra and its surroundings.
Because they adapt well to the cold climate thanks to their dense layer of wool, and are characterized by their ease of fattening and their high productivity, these two breeds are considered as one of the breeds where the average weight of females of “The Tamahdit breed reaches between 60 and 70 kg, and between 100 and 120 kg among the Barguis.
In the same context, the Governor supervised the official launch of the rehabilitation of the Ascension Center and the inauguration of the weekly market on a vast area with high-end specifications, which will allow the citizens, men and women, of this Region to praise the efforts of Mr. Governor Abdelhamid Mezyad, which were reflected in their daily lives and in the qualitative action with which he follows the pace of the Region’s projects.
Civil activists from various groups in the Ifrane region present in Tamahdit told HibaPress that the current governor of the region has managed the affairs of the region well on the territorial and administrative levels without prejudice to the rights of citizens, implementing a policy approach of positive interaction with the grievances of the people whose treatment falls within the competence of the Al Amal Foundation and its representatives at the DGSN level.
The same activists testified that Mr. Abdelhamid Mezyad, the governor of the province of Ifrane, is keen to improve the services provided to citizens and economic actors and to work to involve them in development initiatives that concern the implementation of government programs, initiatives for human development and social projects, which has led to the advancement of the economic, social and cultural development of the region, and this take-off is reflected in the language of figures to which we referred in a previous topic.
These are therefore testimonies collected by HIBAPRESS from a civil society group in the province of Ifrane, which all aim to highlight the efforts and achievements of Mr. Governor of the province of Ifrane because they revealed efforts that have crystallized and are now evident among followers of local and regional affairs, and which are actually taking shape on the ground, particularly with regard to the paving of roads on the region’s rough roads.
This is in addition to a program to supply drinking water to several Douars at the height of the drought. The Governor himself supervises this process, without any protocol, by traveling to problem areas and listening to concerns, as well as by setting and following more closely priorities that mainly concern the social sectors, in particular by supporting education in rural areas and health, by creating new structures and by strengthening collective services by building a certain number of student hostels, the expansion of boarding schools and the creation of a certain number of communal schools… The health sector has also received attention as part of this development strategy which involves improving local services.
