Foundations call on imams to install water and electricity meters in their homes and separate them from mosques
A. Latif Baraka: Heba Press
In a first of its kind aimed at streamlining and managing the budget of the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs, the latter has issued a memorandum addressed to imams and muezzins residing in professional housing in the Sefrou region, asking them to set up their own water and electricity meters and share them with the meters of the mosques.
According to the memorandum, a copy of which is available to Heba Press, this measure comes after the recording of a significant increase in water and electricity bills in some mosques, due to the sharing of their meters with other facilities that are not part of the network of services of the mosque, or due to illegal exploitation.
The regional delegation in Sefrou called on imams and muezzins who benefit from functional housing to bring their own water and electricity meters, noting that the meters of mosques will be separated from functional housing as soon as possible.
It is planned that this memorandum will be distributed in all mosques in Morocco in the future.
