Interior Ministry adopts electronic system to address shortage of civil status documents
Heba Press/. Rabat
In response to a parliamentary question, Interior Minister Abdel Wafi Laftit revealed the reasons that led to the shortage of family records in the civil registry offices of the Had Al-Salem community.
Laftit stressed that this shortage was the result of a combination of factors that prompted the ministry to take urgent steps to move towards an electronic family records system.
Laftit explained that the responsibility for preparing and printing family books lies with the ministry in accordance with Article 31 of the Executive Decree of the Civil Status Law, adding that the ministry launches public tenders every year to meet the needs required at the national and international levels.
As part of the activation of the new civil status law, which introduced the concept of the electronic family record book, Laftit indicated that the ministry is working on developing a plan for a smooth transition to this digital system.
The minister also indicated that the ministry is developing a unified model of the electronic family record book, which will be approved soon by a ministerial decision.
