Heba Press/. Rabat
The Ministry of Equipment and Water indicated that as of 5 p.m. today, Monday, September 9, 52 of the 57 road sections damaged by flooding and heavy rains had been reopened.
The ministry said in a statement that between September 6 and 9, 2024, Morocco experienced heavy rains and thunderstorms that caused traffic disruption on 57 road sections in the provinces of Assa Zag, Al Haouz, Boulemane, Taroudant, Tinerhir, Sidi Ifni, and Chichaoua, Tata, Zagora, Guelmim, Midelt and Ouarzazate.
The same source adds that the interests of the ministry responded immediately to this situation, since, from September 6, about 200 human resources (engineers, technicians, vehicle drivers and workers) were recruited, in addition to more than 100 earth moving machines (leveling, shipping, drilling rigs, bulldozers and trucks).
Thus, the report states that on September 9, 2024, at five o’clock in the evening, a total of 52 out of 57 road sections were open.
The same source concludes that the Ministry of Equipment and Water is still mobilized to open the remaining road sections as soon as possible, in particular national road n°10 connecting Bouarfa and Bouanane, and national road n°12 connecting Foum Zguid and Zagora.
