‘Shocking’ facts about the murder of the child ‘Narine’
Initial investigations into the murder of Turkish child Narin Goran have revealed shocking confessions, including that someone had financed the hiding of her body in exchange for 200,000 Turkish lira (about $6,000) from the victim’s uncle.
Local media reported that one of those arrested in connection with the crime admitted that the village mayor, who is also the uncle of the child Narin, had brought his body to him to hide it, in exchange for giving him 200,000 Turkish liras, and that he had indeed carried out the task.
The person, whose identity or connection to the child was unclear, said Narin’s uncle brought his body wrapped in a blanket, then they worked together to place it in a sack, before carefully hiding it near a river that ran nearby to the village.
He added that once the body was hidden, he took part in the search which continued for 19 days with the participation of police teams, gendarmerie, rescuers, trained dogs and drones.
The results of the child’s autopsy did not reveal the date of his death, but samples from the body are still under forensic investigation.
The relevant authorities are currently investigating 24 people involved in this crime, including Narin’s parents, siblings and a number of residents of the “Tavshan Tepe” neighborhood in the city of “Bağlar” in the southern Turkish state of Diyarbakir.
Another case that has come up in the investigation is the death of Nareen’s sister seven years ago, who was suffering from a disability and was said to have died when she fell down the stairs, without an inquest or post-mortem being carried out at the time. The incident has come to the fore again.
On Sunday morning, search teams with trained dogs found a bag between stones at the edge of a river near the area, before discovering the girl’s body inside after 19 days of painstaking searching.
