The death of Ismaili football club coach and former Egyptian national team coach Ihab Galal was announced in Egypt on Wednesday.

The Ismaily Club said on its Facebook account that Jalal (57) died “following a short battle with illness.”

The website “Youm 7” reported that he had recently been hospitalized and had undergone more than three surgeries to control a brain clot.

Jalal is considered one of the veteran coaches in the Egyptian League, having coached several clubs including Zamalek, Pyramids, Al-Masry, Enppi and Ismaily, in addition to coaching the national team in 2022 for a few weeks, amid massive criticism that led to him losing his position.

The Ismaili Club has announced 3 days of mourning following his death, and a funeral will be held next Sunday at the Ismailia Stadium.
