Nadia Fattah reviews the results of the partnership between Morocco and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development

Today, Wednesday in Rabat, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Ms. Nadia Fattah, reviewed the positive results of the existing strategic partnership between Morocco and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which has strengthened the Kingdom’s capacity to keep pace with the best international practices.
In her speech at a high-level session, organized on the occasion of the conclusion of the second phase of the Morocco-OECD program, Ms. Fattah indicated that this partnership has allowed a critical and comparative evaluation of the Kingdom’s performance.
He also stressed Morocco’s commitment to pursuing ambitious reforms and strengthening its international cooperation with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Regarding the ongoing economic and social reforms, the minister stressed the need to establish a regular framework for economic evaluation, which would allow Morocco’s performance to be assessed according to the same criteria as the performance of the rest of the organization’s members, adding that budgetary reforms and public investments remain necessary to support economic growth and employment.
For his part, the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, Ahmed Reda Al-Shami, stressed the importance of opening an in-depth national debate to identify stereotypes and cultural obstacles that hinder women’s activity and their contribution to economic growth.
Mr. Al-Shami said this with the development of effective mechanisms, particularly in the field of vocational training, and improving Morocco’s competitiveness in order to create a favorable and comprehensive economic environment.
For her part, the director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Small and Medium Enterprises, Regions and Cities, affiliated with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Lamia Kamal Al-Shawi, stressed the importance of employment and productivity as two fundamental levers of economic growth.
She added: “It is important to have a coherent and integrated approach to regional and sectoral policies, in order to increase the effectiveness of public investments.”
As for the Director General of the Deposit and Management Fund, Khaled Safir, he spoke about the role of the Fund in supporting sectoral and territorial public policies, because it is a major player in supporting the planning and implementation of infrastructure projects.
Regarding digital transformation, the ambassador stressed the Fund’s commitment to keeping pace with digitalization policies in Morocco, particularly by financing emerging companies and developing digital infrastructures such as information highways.
For his part, the head of the economic department of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Sebastian Barnes, stressed the horizontal nature of the economic study conducted by the organization on Morocco, which combines a macroeconomic analysis with an assessment of the situation in progress. structural reforms.
He said that the study aims not only to assess the progress made, but also to raise awareness internationally of the positive dynamics of Moroccan reforms.
This study, conducted by the OECD Economic Office in Morocco since February 20, 2023, analyzes Morocco’s economic performance in the face of global and internal challenges, highlighting growth prospects and providing strategic recommendations.
