The security operations carried out from September 9 to 11 by the police services in the cities of Tangier and Tetouan to combat digital content inciting illegal immigration, resulted in the arrest of 60 individuals, including minors, for their alleged involvement in the fabrication and dissemination of false information on social networks inciting the organization of collective illegal immigration operations.

The National Security’s computer monitoring services have identified digital content published on social networks openly inciting the storming of the security barrier between the cities of Fnideq and Sebta on September 15, 2024, and calling on users of sites and social platforms to collectively commit illegal immigration, a security source said.

Technical investigations and field research made it possible to identify 13 people involved in the dissemination and sharing of this digital content, based on precise data provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), before these individuals were arrested by the judicial police of Tetouan during security operations carried out in the cities of Casablanca, Tetouan, Larache, Ouezzane, Rabat, Missour, Oujda, Fez, Mohammedia and Ouislane, it is noted. The same source specifies that a similar security operation carried out in the city of Tangier led to the arrest of 47 suspects immediately after their arrival at the railway and bus stations, while they were trying to respond to digital content inciting the organization of a collective illegal immigration operation.

The individuals concerned were subjected to the procedures of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to elucidate the ins and outs of these criminal acts, at a time when research and investigations are continuing to identify and arrest the instigators of these acts and the persons directly involved in the production and dissemination of this content and information inciting the organization of collective illegal immigration operations.
