The municipalities of Tangier and Palma de Mallorca seal their partnership

The municipalities of Tangier and Palma de Mallorca (Spain) signed, on Friday in the city of the Strait, a cooperation and partnership agreement aimed at strengthening relations between the two cities in various areas of common interest.

This agreement was signed by the mayors of the two cities, Mounir Laymouri and Jaime Martínez, in the presence of the Spanish ambassador in Rabat, Enrique Ojeda Vila, the advisor to the mayor of Palma de Mallorca, Javier Bonet and several officials and elected representatives from both sides.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Laymouri indicated that the signing of this agreement reflects the desire of the two cities to establish friendly and partnership relations for fruitful cooperation in several areas, explaining that the agreement constitutes a framework for the implementation of development projects of common interest in the fields of culture, economy, tourism and the environment.

In this sense, he said he was convinced that this cooperation will be a model of success and will contribute to the development and prosperity of the two cities, as well as to the creation of investment opportunities on both sides, recalling that this initiative is the result of a series of mutual visits that allowed the sharing of experiences between the leaders of the two municipalities.

For his part, Mr. Martínez highlighted the historical relations that bind Morocco and Spain, welcoming the development experienced by the city of Tangier, a symbol of tolerance and openness to the world, which is full of enormous assets in different areas.

In this regard, he highlighted the meeting held between businessmen and entrepreneurs from both cities, expressing the hope that the agreement would contribute to establishing lasting cooperation between Tangier and Palma de Mallorca at all levels, particularly in the economic, sporting, cultural and digital fields.

The signing of this agreement is part of a three-day visit made by a delegation from the municipality of Palma de Mallorca to Tangier, to meet with economic players and local investors.
