Mother Saves Child At Last Minute From Brutal Water Otter Attack

An American mother was walking with her child on Thursday morning, September 12, on a beach at a marina in the Seattle area of ​​Washington State, when a strange event nearly caused her to lose her child.

This woman was shocked to see her child dragged into the water in a rare and unprecedented attack, by an otter that snatched her child, which brutally attacked her as she intervened to save her child from drowning.

The Associated Press reported that the river otter grabbed the child and dragged him from one dock to another in the marina, before lowering him into the water. After being submerged in the water for a few moments, the child surfaced, and his mother managed to pull him out of the water while the animal continued to bite and scratch him. When they left the sidewalk, the animal chased them before eventually surrendering.

U.S. police responded to a report of a “water otter” accident at the Bremerton Marina in Kitsap County last Thursday morning, according to the Metro newspaper.

The child was transferred to Silverdale Hospital for treatment for bites and scratches to the head, face and legs. The child suffered only minor injuries, thanks to the mother’s quick actions and the child’s resilience.

Following the violent attack, USDA Wildlife Services trapped the otter on site. It was taken to the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory in Washington for rabies and other tests.
