Building and maintaining the sports infrastructures of the 54 member associations of the African Football Confederation, these are the key words of the workshop bringing together stadium inspectors in Rabat.

The excellent image of African football shone before the eyes of the world during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast 2023. And a month after the final of the continental high mass of the beautiful game, CAF brought together stadium inspectors at the Mohamed VI Sports Complex located in the Moroccan capital, to discuss the standards of sports infrastructure.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and member of the CAF Executive Committee, stressed the importance of investing in world-class infrastructure and maintain these facilities.

The workshop which ran until Wednesday focused on a number of areas such as CAF stadium regulatory framework, stadium inspection guidelines, natural and artificial pitches, assessment floodlighting, safety and security in stadiums and press facilities.

The event also highlighted the training of inspectors who will be appointed by CAF to guide African clubs and member associations in the implementation of the standards required to host events organized by CAF, according to the 2022 edition of the Regulations. Stadiums.

During these three days, the candidates participated in several theoretical and practical exercises and made stadium visits accompanied by CAF department managers.

At the end of this workshop, each candidate was assessed on their inspection knowledge, including terrain quality, seating comfort, safety and security, lighting, medical and hospital facilities. media.

In 2022, CAF launched its Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP), a digital tool designed to help member associations digitize their administration and manage stadium inspection processes for continental and domestic competitions.

Candidates will also be trained in the use of this module, which will be an orientation tool for their inspection missions.

During the next cycle, Morocco will host key CAF events, including the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (April 11-21) and the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations. next year.

The country also recently obtained the hosting rights for the next five editions of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, starting in 2025.
