The shipping company transported around 700,000 passengers and 170,000 vehicles on its routes with Tangier Med and Nador, representing 70% of its annual traffic with the country.
The shipping company made around 2,500 trips with six ships during its three voyages between the Kingdom of Morocco and southern Spain.
The Spanish shipping company Balaria increased passenger and vehicle traffic by 10% on its flights with the Kingdom of Morocco during the Marhaba operation compared to the same period last year. From June 15 to September 15, the shipping company transported nearly 700,000 passengers and 170,000 vehicles on its routes with Tangier Med and Nador. In this sense, the Marhaba operation represents approximately 70% of the shipping company’s annual traffic in the country.
During this period, Balearia operated around 2,500 flights, an increase of 5% compared to the previous year, on its three routes with the Kingdom of Morocco: Algeciras-Tangier Med, Motril-Tangier Med and Almeria-Nador. For this reason, Balaria had six of its ships, including ferries and fast ferries, which represented 25% of the ships connecting the two countries.
Balaria’s General Manager, Jorge Bassol, gave a very positive assessment of the Hello operation and highlighted the competitiveness of the show, as well as the operational efficiency of the programming of this campaign. “For a new year, we have affirmed our commitment to the Kingdom of Morocco to provide a reliable and quality service, transporting more passengers with a wide range of ships and excursions departing from different ports, and with services adapted to the needs of our Moroccan customers.”
On-board services tailored to customers Balaria has ships equipped with on-board services tailored to Moroccan passengers, such as halal food and rooms dedicated to worship and prayer during the voyage.
The Spanish shipping company has also expanded its telephone services by including new Arabic-speaking operators to improve the quality of service to Moroccan customers. The company has also deployed a commercial network comprising 21 exclusive points of sale along the routes in Morocco and Spain for the purchase of tickets.
More than 20 years of commitment to the Kingdom of Morocco Balaria has been present in the Kingdom of Morocco since 2003, when it opened its first international line between Tangier and Algeciras. In 2017, it launched a line between Nador and Almeria, and in early 2023 it opened a third line with the opening of the Tangier Med-Motril line. In more than two decades, Balaria has transported more than nine and a half million passengers, nearly three million vehicles and more than a million trucks of goods.
In addition to the economic impact of its activity, the Spanish shipping company also contributes to the development and well-being of citizens through social, cultural and solidarity initiatives organized by the Balearic Foundation, such as support for student employment, promotion of local artists and cultural exchanges between the two countries, among others.
