The Moroccan human rights space is on the brink of popular images showing half-naked detainees, calling for action to urgently publish the results of the investigation.
The same source indicated that it is following the painful events that the city of Fnideq and its surroundings are experiencing due to the influx of thousands of young people intending to flee en masse to the occupied city of Ceuta, which reached its peak on September 15, 2024.
The statement calls on the Moroccan authorities to release all those detained in connection with these events while respecting civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution and national and international laws, including the right to travel and movement.
The Moroccan Space for Human Rights held the state responsible for the attempted mass flight of thousands of young people, stressing that the lack of public policies that meet the aspirations of young people and the spread of poverty, marginalization, unemployment and other stifling crises are the reason for this event.
He stressed that the immigration attempt is a message of protest that “cannot be responded to with a security approach,” but rather requires real development policies that guarantee justice and a decent life for all Moroccans.
