Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima: The filling rate of dams exceeds 50%

The filling rate of large dams, located in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, has reached more than 50%, indicates the General Directorate of Hydraulics, reporting to the Ministry of Equipment and Water.
The reservoirs of these dams, whose capacity exceeds 1.721 billion m3, have stood, to date, at 870.28 million m3, or a filling rate of 50.55%, specifies a management report.
Three dams in the region have reached a 100% filling rate. These are the Acharif Al Idrissi, Nakhla dams in the province of Tetouan, and Chefchaouen.
In the Loukkos area, the reservoirs of the Oued El Makhazine dam (province of Larache), the largest dam in the region, reached 506.21 million m3, i.e. a filling rate of approximately 75.23%, against 566 million m3 during the same period a year earlier (84.1%), while the reservoirs of the Dar Khrofa dam stood at 96.1 million m3 (20%), against 155.9 million m3 a year earlier ( 32.5%).
Concerning the reservoirs of the April 9 dam (Tanger-Assilah prefecture), they amounted to 52.5 million m3, i.e. a filling rate of 17.5%, compared to 59.5 million m3 year-on-year (19.8 %), while this rate reached, at the Ibn Battouta dam, 45.3% (13.2 million m3), compared to 17.4 million m3 (59.6%) a year earlier.
As for the filling rate of the Moulay El Hassan Ben El Mahdi dam, located in the province of Fahs-Anjra, it stood at 55.1% (12.9 million m3), while the Tangier dam Mediterranean of the province of Fahs-Anjra reached a filling rate of 75.5% (16.6 million m3), compared to 22 million m3 (99.9%), a year earlier.
Regarding the prefecture of M'diq-Fnideq, the Smir dam recorded a filling rate of 81.2% (31.6 million m3), compared to 38 million m3 (97.6), the year former.
In the province of Al Hoceima, the reservoirs of the Abdelkrim Al Khattabi dam reached 2.4 million m3, i.e. a filling rate of 20.4%, while this rate stood at 9.2% for the Jomoua dam (0.5 million m3).
Note that the reservoirs of Morocco's dams reached 4,463.6 million m3, i.e. a filling rate of approximately 27.7%.
