The head of the preparation of the Tamri dam, Hassan Fawzi, confirmed that the completion of this water structure, located in the territory of the Agadir Idaoutnan prefecture, is progressing at a remarkable pace, as the completion rate has reached 52 percent.

Mr. Fawzi added, in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Agency, that this new water project, whose storage capacity is estimated at 204 million cubic meters, for a total investment of 2.7 billion dirhams, is being implemented within the framework of the national drinking water and irrigation water supply program 2020-2027.

He explained that the Tamri dam, which has a total height of 75 meters and a length of 460 meters, is of great importance due to the problem of lack of water resources suffered by the Souss-Massa region.

The official continued that this hydraulic parameter, supervised by the Ministry of Equipment and Water, will contribute to supplying Agadir Kébir with drinking water, as well as irrigating neighboring agricultural lands, raising water levels and combating floods.

He stressed that this water infrastructure, the construction of which began in September 2022, should be delivered in 2026.

He stressed that the social and economic impact of this dam is great, as it offers employment opportunities during construction, in addition to promoting the development of ecotourism.

It should be noted that this important project is part of a series of strategic projects that were launched within the framework of the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program 2020-2027, prepared in accordance with the Royal Directives, in proactive response to the issue of water management, which continues to take on increasing importance in recent years, particularly due to climate change.

This program aims to ensure a continuous supply of drinking water to all residents, while meeting irrigation needs.
