Belaïd Boumède, a pioneer of Moroccan sports journalists, answered God’s call on the night of Monday to Tuesday in a hospital in Casablanca, after a long fight against an illness that treatments failed to overcome.
The late Belaïd Boumède was part of the founding generation of sports journalism in Morocco and established himself as a professional journalist and cartoonist in the newspapers “Al-Bayan” in French and “Bayan Al-Youm” in Arabic, published by the Party of Progress and Socialism. He also worked as a sports analyst on many television and radio stations.
The late King Hassan II awarded him a royal medal during one of the Throne Cup finals in the 1990s, in recognition of his remarkable media contributions.

On this painful occasion, we extend our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the family of the deceased, small and large, asking Almighty God to cover him with His vast mercy and to dwell in His vast gardens with the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous, and to inspire his family with patience and comfort.
We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.
