Study/Unbelievable but true: Water bear proteins are a potential new tool to slow human aging

A recently published scientific study found that proteins known as “water bear proteins” could become a new tool for slowing human aging.

According to the study published in the scientific journal “Protein Science”, American researchers transplanted “water bear” proteins into human cells and recorded that they entered a kind of hibernation.

“Just like water bears, when human cells containing these proteins are placed in a state of biostasis, they become more resistant to stress,” explained Sylvia Sanchez Martinez, a researcher at the University of Wyoming.

The study authors confirmed that if human cells could resist DNA damage resulting from sunlight or exposure to toxic substances, like the cells of “water bears,” it would be possible to slow the entire aging process.
