Marrakech: An individual arrested for hacking phone calls


Police officers from Marrakech police headquarters arrested, on Monday, an individual suspected of undermining automated digital data processing systems and hacking telephone calls, according to a security source.

According to the same source, the 27-year-old suspect allegedly used an electronic device and a computer application to divert international telephone calls to the local network and generate income through price differentiation.

Research and investigations carried out on the basis of a complaint filed by a national telecommunications operator made it possible to identify and apprehend the suspect in the city of Marrakech.

The searches carried out as part of this case led to the seizure of a SIM card and the mobile phone presumably used to commit the aforementioned criminal acts.

The suspect, the same source adds, was placed in police custody for the investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, with a view to clarifying all the circumstances of this case and to arrest the other accomplices.
