Automobile: Sales down at the end of March

Sales of new cars in Morocco stood at 35,680 units at the end of March 2024, down 3.09% compared to the same period in 2023, according to monthly statistics from the Association of Motor Vehicle Importers at Morocco (AIVAM).
By segment, the number of new registrations of private vehicles (PC) amounted to 31,741 units, down 5.97%, while that of light utility vehicles (LCV) amounted to 3,939 units (+28 .77%) specifies the same source.
The “Dacia” brand dominates the PC segment, with a market share of 28.43%, or 9,024 new registrations at the end of March 2024, followed by Renault which sold 4,756 new units (market share of 14.98%), Hyundai (2,658 units and 8.37% market share) and Opel (1,788 vehicles and 5.63% market share).
As for light utility vehicles (LCV), Renault increased its sales by 84.62% to 1,104 units (28.03% market share), and Ford saw its sales increase by 211.9% to 524 units (13.3% market share), notes AIVAM.
Regarding sales of “premium” cars, Audi sold 1,120 units at the end of last March, representing a market share of 3.53%, ahead of BMW (854 vehicles and 2.69% market share) and Mercedes ( 762 units with a market share of 2.4%).
