A South Korean court has ruled to fine Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min’s father around $2,220 over child abuse at his academy.
According to press reports, the family of one of the students at his academy filed a complaint of mistreatment and he was beaten by Son Heung-yeon, the brother of the Tottenham player, which left him with a large bruise on his left thigh. .

According to Yonhap News Agency and other South Korean media, the court sentenced Son Woong-jung, Son Heung-yeon and a third person to pay a fine of 3 million won for violating the protection law of childhood.
The trio – who can appeal their convictions within a week – also had to complete 40 hours of educational sessions on child abuse.
The Chuncheon court’s ruling came Friday after the public prosecutor filed charges against the three in August and requested that they be fined. The son’s father admitted the incident occurred, but denied it was a physical assault.
