Central trade union/The UGTM reiterates the need “not to infringe on the acquired rights of the working class and to protect its purchasing power”. Three central points

In a statement to the press following a meeting held as part of the social dialogue sessions, Mr. Allakouch, member of the executive office of the General Union of Workers of Morocco (UGTM) who was at the head of a delegation from the Central Trade Union, reiterated the need “not to infringe on the acquired rights of the working class and to protect its purchasing power”.

The meeting addressed three central points

– improving income so as to align it with the standard of living of the working class

-the strike law

-the retirement plan.

According to Mr. Allakouch, the Central Trade Union called, during this session, for an increase in the guaranteed interprofessional minimum wage (SMIG), a general increase in wages and a reduction in taxes, in accordance with the agreement of April 30 2022, insisting on “the need for the government to respect the rules relating to trade union freedoms”.

He, in this context, welcomed the government’s willingness to support the structural reforms included in the agreement of April 30, 2022, as well as the frequency of social dialogue sessions, with the perspective of “finalizing the agreement before May 1 “.

In addition to Ms. Ghita Mezzour, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, this meeting took place in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget Fouzi Lekjaa and the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills Younes Sekkouri
