Patrice Motsepe: “Thanks to its performances, Morocco is still the pride of Africa”

Thanks to its performances, Morocco is still the pride of Africa, said Wednesday the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe.

“We all know to what extent Morocco made us and Africa proud during the Qatar World Cup. I am perfectly sure that Morocco will continue on the same momentum to make us proud again,” said Mr. Motsepe upon his arrival at Rabat-Salé airport, to attend the opening of the African Cup of Nations ( CAN) of futsal (Morocco-2024).

The CAF president, at the same time, thanked the Kingdom for hosting this futsal CAN, adding that “there are times when Morocco remains the only country able to organize certain African competitions”.

The official also recalled that several African countries, whose stadiums do not meet the required standards, play their matches in Morocco.

He also indicated that he had visited a stadium in Sao Tome, built with the contribution of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, expressing his thanks to King Mohammed VI for the efforts made to promote football in Africa.

The CAN-2024 futsal will be played from April 11 to 21 at the Ibn Yassine Hall and the Palais des Sports of the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

Morocco will play in Group A, alongside Angola, Ghana and Zambia, while Group B includes Egypt, Libya, Namibia and Mauritania.

Morocco, which also organized the previous edition of the futsal CAN in 2020, is the double title holder.
