Jordan announced the temporary closure of its airspace from this Saturday at 20 GMT and until further notice, “as a precautionary measure”, in light of “increasing tensions in the region”.
“In order to preserve the safety and security of civil aviation in Jordanian airspace, in light of the growing tensions in the region, and after assessing the risks in accordance with international security standards, it been decided, as a precautionary measure, to temporarily close Jordanian airspace to all flights, departing and arriving, as well as in transit, from this Saturday at 8:00 p.m., i.e. 11:00 p.m. local time, until “until further notice”, indicated the National Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority.
This decision will be “regularly reviewed depending on the evolution of the situation,” said the Authority in charge of civil aviation in the Kingdom in a press release.
