Tensions in the Middle East: Russia calls for restraint

Russia expressed its concern on Sunday about “a new dangerous escalation in the Middle East”, calling on all parties concerned to exercise restraint following an unprecedented Iranian drone and missile attack against Israel.

“We express our extreme concern about further dangerous escalation in the region. We have repeatedly warned that the unresolved nature of the numerous crises in the Middle East (…) will lead to an escalation of tensions,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“We call on all parties concerned to show restraint,” continued Russian diplomacy, expressing the hope that “states in the region will overcome existing challenges through political and diplomatic means.”

“We consider it important that constructive-minded international actors contribute to this,” the document reads.
