De Croo: “Belgium is committed to strengthening the partnership between Morocco and the EU”

Belgium is committed to contributing to the strengthening of the partnership between Morocco and the European Union (EU) at all levels, said Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo on Monday in Rabat.

“The Kingdom of Morocco is a strategic and crucial partner for the European Union,” underlined Mr. De Croo during a joint press briefing with the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, following the 3rd meeting of the High Joint Morocco-Belgium Partnership Commission.

This meeting was an opportunity to reiterate “our commitment to contribute to strengthening this partnership at all levels,” said Mr. De Croo, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the EU.

In this sense, he praised the excellence of the “quality, old and deep relations” uniting the two Kingdoms, expressing his country’s desire to further develop and strengthen this strategic partnership.

Mr. De Croo also praised the “potential and ambitions” of Morocco, particularly in terms of green hydrogen, welcoming the memorandum of understanding signed during this meeting between the two countries in the field of green energy.

“We want to further develop our economic partnership. The Moroccan investment charter and Morocco’s offer regarding green hydrogen offer significant investment opportunities for our Belgian companies,” he said.

Regarding the memorandum of understanding in the field of modernization of the Judicial Administration, also signed this Monday, he noted that cooperation between the ministries of justice of the two countries “will help us to better combat organized crime” .
