Morocco: The IMF forecasts growth of 3.1% in 2024

Morocco is expected to record growth of 3.1% this year and 3.3% in 2025, according to International Monetary Fund forecasts released today, Tuesday, in the latest update of the global economic outlook.
In this report, published on the occasion of the spring meetings of the IMF and the World Bank in Washington (April 17-19), inflation is expected to reach 2.2% in 2024 and 2.5% in 2025.
The unemployment rate is expected to be 12% this year, before falling slightly to 11.5% in 2025.
The IMF forecasts that the kingdom’s current account balance will stabilize at -2.6% in 2024, then at -2.9% the following year.
In the Middle East and Central Asia region, growth is expected to reach 2.8% this year and 4.2% in 2025, while growth in Sub-Saharan Africa is expected to reach 3.8% in 2024 and 4% the following year .
Furthermore, the IMF forecasts that global growth will remain stable at 3.2% in 2024 and 2025, considering that most indicators show that the global economy is “approaching a soft landing”.
Despite these “positive” developments, the IMF notes that “many challenges remain and decisive action is needed,” expressing concern over rising inflation and significant disparities between low-income countries and the rest of the world.
