Somalia to open embassy and consulate general in Morocco

Somalia announced Friday that it will open an embassy in Rabat and a consulate general in Dakhla.

The decision came after Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita held talks with his Somali counterpart in New York on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly.

In a statement to the press, the official stated that Somalia and Morocco “mutually support their sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The Somali Minister added that both countries have long-standing relations based on friendship and solidarity, praising “the support and vision of King Mohammed VI in favor of development and stability in Africa.”

The Somali official also stated that both countries will follow a cooperation roadmap.

This meeting took place in the presence of the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations, Omar Hilale.
