Meknes: Mobilization to welcome SIAM-2024 guests


A few days before the start of the 2024 edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), the public authorities of Meknes are hard at work to host this grandiose mass of agriculture in the best conditions. national and international.

As D-Day approaches, the Ismaili city is pulling out all the stops on all fronts to guarantee the visitors who will flock there from the 22nd to the 28th a welcome worthy of this increasingly prestigious event. Over the years, this show has become, in fact, a unique space for exchange and communication around the vision and agricultural development strategy of the Kingdom and a suitable opportunity for meetings with the various partners, both national and ‘international.

Meknes, one of the four imperial cities of the Kingdom, is banking on SIAM to give a boost to its tourist activity, the show being one of the major vectors of tourist attraction for the city and its region in view of the great number of visitors who come to discover the latest developments in the sector, but also Moroccan and foreign exhibitors who have been regulars at this meeting for years.

As for tourism professionals, hoteliers and restaurateurs in particular, the time has come to mobilize to welcome visitors to the show and tourists in good conditions.

Representatives of professional tourism organizations in the Ismaili capital met recently in the presence of the governor of the prefecture of Meknes, Abdelghani Sabbar, for better preparation for this agricultural meeting, which constitutes an achievement for Meknes and the region of Fez-Meknes in general on the economic and tourist levels.

Emphasis was placed on the major role that tourism professionals must play to contribute to the success of this event.

In a statement to MAP, the president of the Prefectural Tourism Council (CPT), Mohammed Amine Bennouna underlined the importance of SIAM in the sense that it constitutes the largest tourist event in the city, adding that the show created an exceptional tourism dynamic in Meknes and its region.

The number of visitors recorded during the SIAM period, where more than 900,000 people are expected this year, constitutes a boon for the different socio-economic sectors, he said.

For his part, Alaoui Blghiti, treasurer of the CPT of Meknes, indicated that all measures have been taken by the professionals reporting to the Council (hoteliers, restaurateurs, guides, travel agencies) to guarantee that the show takes place in good conditions. , adding that all players in the sector are redoubling their efforts to make this annual meeting a success and capitalize on its economic benefits for a lasting tourism recovery.

Organized annually under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, SIAM is one of the largest agricultural events in Africa and the Middle East. The 16th edition will see the participation of Spain as guest of honor.

Occupying an area of ​​more than 12 hectares, the event promises, according to the organizers, to be an enriching experience for professionals and the general public.

The 2024 edition will see the participation of nearly 70 countries and 1,500 exhibitors. More than 950,000 visitors are expected this year at this event for Moroccan and international agriculture. In addition, more than 40 conferences and round tables will be on the program for this show.

The 16th edition is marked, in particular, by the introduction of a new “Agri-Digital” pole, illustrating the role of digital technologies in the service of more efficient and more resilient agriculture, the significant extension of the “products of Terroir”, promoting Moroccan agricultural diversity and the introduction of the E-ticket to improve access conditions.
