Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan chairs the opening of the 16th SIAM in Meknes

Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan chaired, Monday at Mechouar Stinia-Sahrij Souani in Meknes, the opening ceremony of the 16th edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM).

This major event, organized under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, from April 22 to 28, will be held under the theme “Climate and agriculture: For sustainable and resilient production systems”. It will highlight the pressing challenges facing the agricultural sector due to increasing climate change.

At the start of the inaugural ceremony of the 16th edition, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presented three certificates of recognition of the Distinctive Signs of Origin and Quality to the presidents of the groups of producers of local products having obtained labels during the 2023-2024 campaign.

The first certificate was given to Abdelkrim Bayad, president of the Federation of Oriental Almond Professionals, for the Geographical Indication “Amandes Beni Snassen” (Oriental region), while the second certificate was given to Mohamed El Hadi, president of the Ait Bouguemez cooperative of agricultural producers, for the Geographical Indication “Pomme de la Vallée Ait Bouguemez” (Béni Mellal-Khénifra region). As for the third certificate, it was awarded to Abdessalam El Houadfi, director of the company “Le Petit Domaine SARL”, for the Agricultural Label “Eggs from free-range chickens”.

Subsequently, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan took a souvenir photo with the three farmers.

SIAM 2024 will offer a rich program, including a series of important conferences and meetings, such as the AAA Initiative Ministerial Meeting and the Regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ( FAO) for Africa in Morocco.

This new edition of SIAM will see the expected participation of 70 countries, including Spain, guest of honor. Among the new features of this show, an intelligent spatial configuration will highlight the diversity of Moroccan agriculture, while a new “Agrodigital” pole will symbolize the intersection between technology and agriculture. Also note that the “Local Products” division will experience significant expansion.
