Baitas: The government resorted to imports to protect the national livestock.

Government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas confirmed that the use of importing sheep from abroad aims to protect the national herd. During a press conference which followed the work of the Government Council, Baitas declared that the government had opened the door to importation due to scarcity, noting that Morocco does not have large importers specialized in this field, but only a few professionals working in this field.

Baitas added that the results of last year’s experience were not satisfactory, emphasizing that this year the door was opened to the importation of 600,000 heads of sheep, and welcoming all those who wish to contribute to the process.
