Saïd Chengriha, chief of staff of the Algerian army, expressed his astonishment during his recent visit to the State of Kuwait, after surprising Kuwaiti officials with unexpected behavior.
Shangriha was surprised by his refusal to stay at the “Palace of Hospitality” as is customary in official programs and chose to stay in a luxury hotel in the “Salmiya” district, an arrangement arranged by the Algerian embassy in Kuwait.
According to Kuwaiti press sources, the suite allocated to Shangriha in the hotel was under high security, which raised questions within the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense as the situation was not expected to require such strict security measures.
There were many interpretations as to why this strange behavior occurred. Some media sources indicated that there were disagreements between Shangriha and Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah.
While others considered this behavior to have diplomatic or personal origins, especially since Chengriha is known for his style, which is not without controversy, which opens the door to speculation about his true intentions.
The Kuwaitis also denounced this behavior and considered it not innocent, suggesting that it was linked to undiplomatic tendencies, which may have been inspired by harsh political or military methods, which do not suit diplomatic customs between the country.
