The 7th edition of the “Morocco Today Forum” will be organized next July in Dakhla to discuss the potential, the means to put in place and the challenges to take up in order to “realize the Royal Vision of development of the Atlantic coast of Africa and the access of the Sahel countries to it”.

Initiated by the Le Matin Group on the sidelines of the festivities commemorating the 25th anniversary of the accession of HM King Mohammed VI to the Throne of his Glorious Ancestors, this international conference will bring together decision-makers, diplomats, economic operators and experts from Morocco and the rest of the Continent, indicate the organizers in a press release.

After six successful editions, placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI on strategic themes such as the social state, advanced regionalization or the place of women in the development of Morocco, the “Morocco Today Forum” will be dedicated this year on the theme: “Atlantic Africa, for an integrated, inclusive and prosperous continental region”, hence the choice of the host city, Dakhla, with the southern provinces of the Kingdom being called upon to play a central role in this initiative. Royal.

This theme naturally emerged after the Speech addressed on November 6, 2023 by HM King Mohammed VI to the Nation on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Green March, notes the same source, noting that “this Speech marks a new stage pivotal point in the development process of the Southern Provinces of the Kingdom, and a new hope of development and prosperity for the other countries of the continent, especially the countries of the Sahel and those on the Atlantic coast of Africa”.

“In this Speech, the Sovereign announced a multi-sectoral upgrade of the Atlantic coast of the Moroccan Sahara, and practical and proactive responses from the Kingdom to accelerate the reduction of deficits and the development of the Sahelian regions and for the construction of a African Atlantic space as a zone of stability, peace and shared prosperity,” we add.

This new dimension that the development of the Southern Provinces and regional integration will take on at the level of Atlantic and Sahelian Africa in a logic of sharing and co-development, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, requires a large mobilization of actors from various horizons and territories: officials, politicians and private operators both national and continental, in addition to experts and international cooperation and financing institutions.

A space for reflection and proposals around themes inspired by the Royal Vision, the “Morocco Today Forum” has set itself the objective through its 7th edition of bringing together all the actors concerned by this Royal Vision and discussing the potential, the means to put in place and the challenges to be met for it to come to fruition, in order to formulate recommendations which will be recorded in a White Paper, we conclude.
