The second semester exams in the Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy are scheduled for early June, said Monday in Rabat, the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, adding that “there will be no extraordinary session”.
The extension of the boycott does not make it possible to find alternatives to save the academic year, noted Mr. Miraoui, in response to two oral questions on the strike of students of the Faculties of Pharmacy and Medicine, affirming that “the scenario of 2019 will never happen again.”
The dialogue continues at the local level with the deans of the faculties to resolve any problem, he assured, noting that the two supervisory ministries will not fail to intervene if necessary. On the other hand, he affirmed that “there is no longer any dialogue at the national level”.
Referring to the national dialogue process, Mr. Miraoui noted that since the start of the boycott of courses, his department and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection have opened their doors to dialogue to interact in total transparency with the demands of students. based on their conviction in the importance of training high-level doctors.
In this regard, he called on the striking students to return to class, specifying that 45 of the 50 demands have been met, while certain demands cannot be accepted, such as participation in the selection of new students and the refusal of internships. practice.
The government has given priority to this project and has mobilized considerable resources to carry it out, the minister also underlined, citing the increase in the number of professors in the faculties of medicine and pharmacy and financial positions (3,500) so that there is one teacher for every 12 students.
