Tourism roadmap: Two new regional application contracts signed

Two regional application contracts have been signed to accelerate the regional deployment of the 2023-2026 Tourism Roadmap in the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima and Draa-Tafilalet regions, announced Tuesday the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy.
“As part of the deployment of the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap at the regional level, a significant milestone was reached in the regions of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima and Draa-Tafilalet, with the signing of their application contracts respectively by the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, the Wilayas, the Councils of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima and Draa Tafilalet Region, as well as the Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering (SMIT) and the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT),” indicates a press release from the ministry.
“The stage of signing regional implementation contracts is crucial for the tourism roadmap, because it is the prerequisite for the implementation of all projects,” said the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, quoted in the press release.
It is also a strong signal which testifies to the commitment of the stakeholders for the tourist development of the regions of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima and Draa Tafilalet whose application contracts now signed, provide for ambitious objectives and structuring projects for reach them, she argued.
Indeed, the roadmap aims to welcome 700,000 tourists in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region and 400,000 tourists in Draa-Tafilalet by 2026.
In the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, 21 major projects are planned to strengthen the tourist offer around the City Break as well as Nature and Discovery and Seaside sectors for internal tourism.
These projects cover, among other things, the tourism development of several tourist sites and beaches, the upgrading of nature circuits, the development of accommodation products, the tourist development of old medinas, the creation of a tourist attraction town and leisure activities in Tetouan, the implementation of the region’s promotional and marketing plan, as well as the launch of a driving project, namely the Mediterranean World Institute.
As for Draa-Tafilalet, 15 projects focused on the Desert & Oasis Adventure sector will notably enhance the Toudgha Gorges site and the esplanade facing Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, strengthen the scenography of the Cinema Museum, create a space for “JAMAA AL FAN” tourist animation dedicated to immersive shows around cinema, create a central tourist animation zone around the Kasbah of Taourirte and set up the Ouarzazate carnival.
The important step of signing regional implementation contracts for the tourism roadmap is thus reaching cruising speed.
After the regions of Fès-Meknes, Béni-Mellal Khénifra, Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, and Draa-Tafilelt, other regions will soon follow, thus accelerating the tourism development programs already underway at the regional level.
