FIFA bans transfers of players from non-UN countries

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) voted at its 74th general assembly, held today Friday in Bangkok, Thailand, for an amendment banning the transfer of any player from a country that does not is not a member of the United Nations.

The majority of FIFA member federations voted in favor of this decision with 202 votes in favor and 4 votes against.

This modification is in addition to the decision of the Confederation of African Football, taken during its 43rd ordinary and elective general assembly in Rabat in 2021, which approved by majority not to recognize any country that is not a member of the Nations United.
