Applications of AI in health presented by the Hassan II Academy of Sciences and Technology at SIEL


The Hassan II Academy of Sciences and Technology organized, Friday in Rabat, a conference on “Artificial intelligence and health”, on the sidelines of its participation in the 29th edition of the International Publishing and Book Fair (SIEL ).

Led by Professor Rajae El Aouad, this conference aims to take stock of advances in scientific research and the ethical considerations of artificial intelligence applied to the field of health. It also aims to specify the priority areas of research in this area in partnership with the scientific community and key partners, and to formulate recommendations relating to respect for the ethical principles which must govern the development of these technologies, both promising and risky.

Speaking on this occasion, Ms. El Aouad indicated that artificial intelligence in health is a booming field, and for several years already, it has been transforming health systems around the world, adding that Africa is about to jump on the bandwagon in terms of the challenges it faces. According to her, several new applications have raised ethical questions regarding surveillance, violation of the right to privacy and autonomy, health and social inequalities, as well as the conditions necessary for trust and communication. legitimate use of large-scale data applications.

In this regard, she cited the reform of the health system, the rapid increase in the provision of care in the private sector, the generalization of social protection, the digitalization of patient files and the acceleration of deployment of E-health and connected medical devices.

And to emphasize that Morocco is more than ever engaged in a new era of well-designed artificial intelligence, which will bring indisputable added value in terms of efficiency of the health system and benefits for the patient.

Professor of immunology, Rajae El Aouad holds a doctorate in medicine and an applied diploma (DEA) in health biology. She also holds a university certificate in immuno-rheumatology, and certificates in human biology, immunology and biochemistry.

The participation of the Hassan II Academy of Sciences and Technology, from May 10 to 19, in the 29th edition of the International Publishing and Book Fair (SIEL) aims to exchange with visitors to the Fair around this institution and its various missions and activities.
