Morocco, catalyst of the digital revolution in Africa: A retrospective of GITEX Africa Morocco 2023 and expectations for the 2024 edition


The Kingdom of Morocco is preparing to host in a few weeks the 2nd edition of Gitex Africa Morocco, a major event which celebrates technological innovation and the dynamism of digitalization ecosystems on the African continent. The 2023 edition of GITEX Africa, placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, marked a significant turning point in positioning Morocco as Africa’s digital hub. Organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, in partnership with the Digital Development Agency (ADD) and Kaoun International.

The event was an exceptional success and dynamic, leading to the influx of more than 32,000 visitors from 128 countries. Likewise, the participation of more than 275 investors and more than 125 government entities testifies to the importance and appeal of this edition, with the expression of their affirmed desire to return for the next edition.

It should be noted that this 1st edition was characterized as follows:
– Best edition in the world of all inaugural editions of trade shows in all industries;
– 84% of exhibitors and 90% of visitors declared that they would most certainly return for future editions;
– TOP 5% of all B2B exhibitions worldwide;
– The benchmark digital event at the regional and continental level.

GITEX Africa Morocco 2023 was also an opportunity to offer participants a real platform for knowledge exchange, to enter into strategic partnerships and to inspire entrepreneurship between technological leaders, innovative startups, and foreign investors.

The 2024 edition promises to be even more ambitious with a variety of themes ranging from cybersecurity to fintech, from e-health to artificial intelligence to smart cities. Scheduled for May 29 to 31 in Marrakech, it aims to attract more exhibitors than last year, by doubling the dedicated surface area, in order to meet the growing demand from large international companies in new technologies and digital having demonstrated the interest in participating.
