Rabat: Coordination meeting to ensure the supply of butane gas bottles to citizens

The Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development organized, Monday in Rabat, a meeting devoted mainly to coordination between the different actors to ensure the supply of citizens with butane gas bottles while respecting the prices set for their sale, as part of the implementation of the direct social assistance program and the decompensation of the butane gas subsidy from May 20.
A press release from the ministry indicates that this meeting, which was attended by representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, was held with representatives of importing, bottling and butane gas distribution company, as well as representatives of the Professional Association of Wholesale Depositories of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Morocco.
This meeting was “dedicated essentially to coordination between the different actors in order to ensure the supply of citizens with butane gas bottles, while ensuring that the prices set for their sale in the different regions of the country are respected, which will experience a increase of 2.5 dirhams in the price of a 3 kg gas bottle and 10 dirhams for a 12 kg gas bottle.
In this context, the ministry affirms that its external services work with local authorities and in coordination with all professionals, to ensure daily monitoring of the continuity of the provision of this vital material for the benefit of all citizens and in the best conditions.
This meeting was also an opportunity to recall that the reform of the partial butane gas price subsidy system takes place within the framework of the establishment of the direct social assistance program and the progressive reform of the compensation system. through the establishment of the direct social assistance program based on the principle of more effective targeting of households eligible for social support reinforced by a set of social programs, in particular the generalization of social protection, aid housing and the increase in salaries of civil servants and employees in the public and private sectors, notes the press release.
Also, this meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the constraints facing the butane gas supply chain, which represents approximately 24% of the total national consumption of petroleum products, knowing that the consumption of this substance has reached approximately 2 .8 million tonnes in 2023, notes the press release, adding that it was agreed to continue efforts and cooperation between public and private actors to ensure the development of activities linked to butane gas.
