By closing his season with 28 goals in 28 Bundesliga matches, Guinean striker Sehrou Guirassy did better than Frenchman Kylian Mbappé and Norwegian Erling Halland in the race for the European golden shoe.

The Guinean international’s path to the next African Ballon d’Or seems clear and for good reason: Two hat-tricks, five doubles and with a wave of the hand, he swept away VfB Stuttgart’s single-season goal record which was held until then by Mario Gomez and his 24 goals in 2008-2009.

But long before, he first attacked Robert Lewandowski who held the record for the most goals in the Bundesliga after seven days (11 goals in 2019-2020), Guirassy scored 13. Twice during of the season, he was voted player of the month.

Still, Sehrou took second place in the European golden boot this season with his 28 goals in the league (in 28 matches played) ahead of the Frenchman Kylian Mbappé and the Norwegian Erling Halland (27 goals each) in the 5 major European championships
