“African Lion 2024”: deployment of a field medical and surgical hospital in the province of Tata

As part of the parallel humanitarian activities of the combined Moroccan-American exercise “African Lion 2024”, which is being held in accordance with the High Instructions of the King, Supreme Leader and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, a medicosurgical hospital campaign (HMCC) was deployed in the local authority of Akka in the province of Tata.

Mobilizing medical teams made up of doctors and nurses from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the American Army, this multidisciplinary health structure offers medical-surgical and social services for the benefit of the local population.

Doctor Colonel Khalid Fattouh, head doctor of this field medical and surgical hospital, indicated that this HMCC, operational since May 16, provides medical and surgical services covering several specialties including cardiology, ENT, pediatrics, internal medicine. , gynecology, radiology, odontology and ophthalmology.

It provided, until May 25, nearly 28,000 medical services for the benefit of 7,600 patients, he underlined, noting that 122 surgical operations and the distribution of glasses were also carried out. corrections for the benefit of 1,213 people and medicines for the benefit of 5,600 people in addition to the vaccination of 17 others against Measles.

Remember that around 7,000 elements of the armed forces from around twenty countries in addition to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are taking part alongside the FAR and the American Armed Forces, in the combined exercise Moroccan-American “African Lion 2024” (May 20 to 31).

Contributing to the strengthening of operational, technical and procedural interoperability between the participating armies, the “African Lion 2024” exercise, the largest exercise conducted in Africa, remains an unmissable event where military executives come together to exchange information. procedures and experiences, particularly in terms of training and combined joint training.

This twentieth edition testifies to the sustainability which characterizes the cooperation between the FAR and the American Armed Forces, reflecting the historical and solid links which bind the two countries.
