The issues and levers of sustainability were at the center of a meeting organized on Saturday at the Higher School of Technology in Dakhla, as part of the first edition of Green Days.
Initiated by the Lagon Dakhla association for the sustainable development of sport and cultural activities, the “Khalij Dakhla Network for climate and sustainable development and the Azura Group, this meeting was an opportunity to promote scientific knowledge among students in the field of sustainability and examine the challenges, causes and impacts of climate change.
This ecological event under the theme “Together, let’s cultivate good for all”, was also an opportunity to exchange thoughts on the promotion of sustainable development and to allow students to better understand the problem of climate change.
Speaking on this occasion, the president of the Lagon Dakhla association, Laila Ouachi indicated that the objective of this environmental event is to raise awareness among students, at all levels, of the importance of preserving the environment and adopt simple but high-impact eco-responsible actions.
“We asked pupils and students in the city of Dakhla to think about innovative and feasible projects in the areas of the environment and sustainability, in order to implement concrete actions such as planting, able to “improve the environmental situation of the region,” she noted.
For her part, the professor emeritus at the Mohammed-V University of Rabat, Zoubida Charrouf reviewed in her speech entitled “The role of trees in the preservation of the environment” the benefits of plantations in the fight against pollution , the preservation of biodiversity and the production of oxygen.
In this regard, she emphasized the environmental role played by the argan tree, making it known that this emblematic tree can withstand difficult climatic conditions characterized by water scarcity and the risk of erosion.
For his part, Houda El Ouali, CSR manager of the Azura group, stressed that corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a transformative role in a company’s business model because it incorporates a high-impact societal commitment. positive on society.
CSR, she added, also makes it possible to sustain a business, make it more viable, give meaning to work, align with government objectives in terms of sustainability and offer a sustainable and sustainable future. safe for future generations.
At the start of this meeting, pupils and students from different schools and higher institutes in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region brilliantly performed artistic works focused on environmental protection and the rational use of water resources. and on the importance of tree planting culture.
The program of this two-day event (May 25 and 26) includes a series of workshops focused on “Climate change”, “Planting, an effective means of restoring ecosystems”, “Waste management” and “Oceans and zones wet”.
