A memorandum of understanding was signed Thursday in Casablanca between the Casablanca-Settat region and the Chinese province of Sichuan, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in different areas.

Signed by the President of the Council of the Casablanca-Settat region, Abdellatif Maazouz and the Secretary of the Committee of the Chinese Communist Party in the province of Sichuan, Wang Xiaohui, in the presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Morocco, Li Changlin, this agreement notably covers the fields of tourism, education, higher education and research, professional training and culture.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Maazouz indicated that this meeting with the Chinese delegation aims to translate the strategic partnership signed, in 2016 in Beijing, by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, in concrete partnerships between the Casablanca-Settat region and the province of Sichuan.

“We hope that this framework agreement can result before the end of the year in the development of an action plan in favor of the implementation of this partnership between the two parties,” he indicated. , before adding that China has made significant progress in the areas concerned by this bilateral cooperation.

These are the areas of renewable energies, digitalization, logistics as well as new industries and technologies, he specified.

At the end of the signing ceremony of this memorandum of understanding, the president of the council of the Casablanca-Settat region and members of the Chinese delegation visited the port of Casablanca where products imported from the province of Sichuan via the Rail-Sea Chengdu-Europe-Africa multimodal transport line were presented to them.
