The Government Council, meeting this Thursday, followed a presentation on the preparation program for Eid al-Adha, made by Mr. Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests.
At the start of this presentation, the minister mentioned the various measures taken to implement the Eid al-Adha preparation program, specifying that the ministry is carrying out a precise evaluation of the supply forecasts, in coordination with professionals. He also assured that supply far exceeds demand, and that the process of marking sheep and goats is experiencing constant development.
Regarding the health aspect, the minister affirmed that the state of health of the national livestock is good, thanks to health monitoring and control as well as the protection of the livestock against infectious diseases. Until May 31, 2024, 1,486 control operations on food and veterinary drugs used were carried out.
To deal with the persistent consequences of the drought, the government resorted to the exceptional and temporary opening of imports to increase supply and contribute to the preservation of the national livestock.
