Wahbi plans to create the position of “mediator” to resolve conflicts between disputing parties.

The Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Wahbi, revealed his ministry’s intention to create the position of “mediator” for conciliation between the parties in dispute.

During his intervention at the detailed discussion meeting on civil procedure before the Committee on Justice, Legislation and Human Rights, this Tuesday, Wahbi declared that this function, which should allow the creation of 20,000 to 40,000 jobs, aims to mediate in marriage, divorce, labor and civil disputes.

Wahbi added that his ministry will work on preparing a bill for the creation of the post of mediator and submit it to parliament for discussion, insisting that “we will win a lot of cases through mediation.”

The minister mentioned the concept of “restorative justice” in the new version of the penal code, explaining that “when two people are in conflict and reconcile, they are nevertheless condemned when they go to court because public action is independent of civil action”, emphasizing that the objective is to bring down the public action in the event of withdrawal of one of the parties.
