What is Eid El Kebir called around the world?

HIBAPRESS-RABAT

Eid El Kebir is called Tabaski in Senegal and other French-speaking West African countries (Guinea, Mali, Ivory Coast, Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger, Cameroon) and also in Nigeria. In North Africa, it is called Tafaska among the Maghrebis of Amazigh tradition while the other Arabic-speaking Berbers use the Arabic name. In Türkiye it is called Kurban Bayrami and in the Balkans, Kurban Bajram.

In regions of the world where there are no sheep, they can be replaced by a goat (such as in sub-Saharan Africa or India).

In Europe the practice of this sacrifice at home is controversial. In France, this practice is prohibited. Several European countries organize slaughter in traditional or mobile slaughterhouses in order to ensure the best sanitary slaughter conditions.
