Today, United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture: widespread awareness

In order to completely eliminate torture and ensure the application of the convention of 10.12.1984, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed June 26 “World Day in Support of Victims of Torture”.

This day reveals a widespread awareness that torture, a shameful practice commonly used in more than 150 countries, is indeed an attack on an inalienable human right: dignity.

It is therefore appropriate to mobilize for this day in order to continue together the fight against the impunity of torturers because it is necessary not to forget that if the International Law of Protection is gradually becoming an element of hope today, its effectiveness will always be the product of our vigilance.
